i have 3 classes with exclusively english majors
of these classes there are some general categories of people i dont like. they are as follows:
1. the kid who has parents that work in the field of english. they will constantly explain that their “mom has her masters in english” or “grandfather was an english professor” at some college. they assume this means something to other people.
2. the kid with a basic understanding of some popular classic author’s work. they will say things like “i absolutely adore shakespeare, but i hate romeo and juliet, but i do love the leo decaprio version.” they will then summarize some popular work without any detail and no analysis whatsoever: “hamlet is so great! at the end everyone died! ha! i know im a bit twisted.”
3. the kid who still considers harry potter to be literature. enough said.
4. the girl who is way too into creative writing that will make you read her work which turns out to just be an account of her making out with some dude in a bathroom stall and then being heart broken when the dude’s parents sent him to military school.
5. the kid who should have been a philosophy major because they are too into debates about nothing.
6. the sports dude who sleeps in class and will someday be your childs english teacher by day and high school football coach by night.
