the wind today killed me
you know its too windy to ride when youre having trouble pedaling to go downhill

i cant remember the last time i was excited
and that really bothers me
it makes me wonder things like will i ever be excited for anything again
i mean at one point i would jump up and down because i was going to have a strawberry milk
now people invite me to parties and amusement parks and concerts and its not that i dont have a good time at these things i just cant seem to get into them like i used to
i have the new cd coming out and i have booked a release show which is the first proper gig ive had in a long time, but im not excited about these things like i should be
it makes me feel like im loosing my youthful spirit
ive fought this for a long time. ive never wanted to grow up, but i feel like its happening and in the worst way.

i have 3 classes with exclusively english majors
of these classes there are some general categories of people i dont like. they are as follows:
1. the kid who has parents that work in the field of english. they will constantly explain that their “mom has her masters in english” or “grandfather was an english professor” at some college. they assume this means something to other people.
2. the kid with a basic understanding of some popular classic author’s work. they will say things like “i absolutely adore shakespeare, but i hate romeo and juliet, but i do love the leo decaprio version.” they will then summarize some popular work without any detail and no analysis whatsoever: “hamlet is so great! at the end everyone died! ha! i know im a bit twisted.”
3. the kid who still considers harry potter to be literature. enough said.
4. the girl who is way too into creative writing that will make you read her work which turns out to just be an account of her making out with some dude in a bathroom stall and then being heart broken when the dude’s parents sent him to military school.
5. the kid who should have been a philosophy major because they are too into debates about nothing.
6. the sports dude who sleeps in class and will someday be your childs english teacher by day and high school football coach by night.

Hey! Check out this new project that Max and Bonnie and I have been working on! We’re still just rolling it out so it’ll be really basic for a few months, but that’s all we really need. Eventually we plan to do a hand-screened printed show calendar each month with a different artist designing each month!
If you’ve ever missed shows in Philly because you didn’t know about them, now you shouldn’t have to! If you know of a show going on in Philly or surrounding areas and it’s not on the calendar, e-mail show details to diyphl@gmail.com
Follow:
ALSO! Plz reblog this like crazy if folks from the Philly area follow you!
